In the new guidelines published after the Danish Prime Minister's press conference on Friday October 23rd, it is made clear that you have the right to wear a face shield at the school and while you teach.

Thus, the school is not allowed to prevent you from protecting yourself by wearing a face shield. However, the school management can decide that you are not allowed to wear a face mask.

The Teachers' Union for Danish Independent Schools is of the opinion that it is a bad idea to prohibit the use of face masks. At the moment, the most important thing for the employees is to feel safe and protected when they work, and if wearing a face mask is what it takes, it should be an option.

In addition, please note that schools are not compelled to make face shields available to the teachers who want to use them. You have a right to wear one, but not to have one made available. Unless the school management decides that you must or should wear it. If this is the case, there must be a good reason why the school must pay for face shields for the employees.
Please note that there may be special conditions necessitating an internal discussion of the need for protective equipment, ensuring efficient infection prevention. In this case, the school must provide you with protective equipment.
